Book of Common Prayer 1662 Holy Communion
Book of Common Prayer services are held at different times across the Chesil Churches, so please check the service rota. Each service lasts for about 35 minutes.
The Book of Common Prayer is the actually a collection of different services, that the Church of England has used since 1662. This includes the service of Holy Communion.
In practice today there is a variance across the Church of England in how the Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion services are interpreted.
We have made some minor alterations in the light of the development of tradition, but across the Chesil Churches, overall we have attempted to remain faithful to the original 1662 format.
The following is the text is taken from the Book of Common Prayer Service for Ordinary Time (up to and including the Common Worship Feast of Christ the King), used regularly at St Mary's Chickerell.
it is of course just the text. Please come and attend public worship at any of the churches in the area.
